Second Chance for Cats is thrilled to share exciting news with our loyal supporters and new friends. Our dream of establishing a feline rescue center is on the verge of becoming reality. Tom Cole is in the process of purchasing approximately 4 acres of land on Littlesburg Road that include a house, barn, and several outbuildings with the intent of leasing the entire site to Second Chance for Cats to establish our center. The terms of the lease will not require any monthly payment, however we will be responsible for all of the necessary improvements, utilities, maintenance, insurance, and taxes.

We are asking you to consider making a generous donation to help get the rescue center established. We estimate that we will need approximately $25,000 to get started. This will cover the initial cost to begin operating our cat rescue center. The purchase transaction is scheduled to close in early March and we are excited to get started. Your partnership with Second Chance for Cats can save the lives of many helpless and abandoned cats providing a safe haven for our “furry friends” while we find suitable homes.

We formed Second Chance for Cats in 2008. At that time we developed a mission statement we would like to share with you:

Second Chance for Cats is a nonprofit organization set up to spay and neuter homeless felines, and then adopt, relocate, or release these cats. Our goal is to reduce the free roaming cat population in Bluefield, WV and the surrounding area, and to provide ongoing care, including rabies vaccinations, medical treatment, and food for the homeless neglected cats. OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO HAVE A RESCUE AND NO KILL SHELTER.

Since our inception we have spayed or neutered 1156 homeless or feral cats, and provided rabies shots to more than 1300 cats. This has been our passion and now with your help we can achieve “OUR ULTIMATE GOAL.”

Please help us in our efforts to care for the cats and make our community a better place to live. Thank you for caring. Please make your tax deductible donations payable to:
